Hong Yuan has rich editor/journalist experience working at the media industry in New Zealand. She has served as an editor and news reporter for many media firms in Wellington, including New Life, Home Voice, Chinese Press. She has 8-year experience in Chinese social media operation and accumulated many successful cases, specialsing in drafting, editing and reviewing social media articles on WeChat.
She has been keen on volunteering work and social work too. She volunteered for Te Kupenga Whakaoti Mahi Patunga(National Network of Stopping Violence) in 2012. She volunteered for six consecutive years for New Zealand International Festival since 2014. She founded a NGO, Wellington Young Chinese Union in 2017 and held many workshops and campaigns for Asian international students and young Asian professionals in Wellington. She said she was new to public health but she is eager to learn. She would contribute relentlessly her expertise, enthusiasm and social ties to support AFS's public health causes in Wellington.
她热衷于志愿者服务，2012年曾在Te Kupenga Whakaoti Mahi Patunga(National Network of Stopping Violence)担任志愿者，2014年开始她连续6年为新西兰国际电影节提供志愿者服务，2017年她在新西兰惠灵顿创立了为年轻华人服务的公益组织-惠灵顿华人青年联合会，举办多个关于健康、求职等方面的公益讲座，服务于惠灵顿本地的国际留学生和年轻职场人士。
